Noting that there is no significant legislation regulating the work of employees in both the the public and private sectors

Further noting that action is required to ensure that workers are fairly compensated

Be it resolved that:


  1. An employer be defined as any person acting directly or
    indirectly in the interest of an employer in relation to an employee
    and includes a public agency, but does not
    include any labor organization (other than when acting as an
    employer) or anyone acting in the capacity of officer or agent
    of such labor organization.
  2. An employee will be defined as any person employed by an employer in any capacity. Employee shall not include any individual that volunteers their time for humanitarian purposes.
  3. Employees shall be guaranteed the right to form a union or other collective organisation.
  4. Employers shall be barred from preventing the formation of any union, be it formal or ad hoc.
  5. Employers shall be required to collectively bargain with any union that in present in the business they represent.
  6. Employers shall not be permitted to terminate the employment of any employee that enters into a strike action.
  7. In the event of a strike action, no one shall be permitted to cross the picket line of striking employees.
  8. Persons under the age of 18 shall be considered children while any person over the age of 18 shall be considered an adult.
  9. Adult employees shall be guaranteed a minimum wage of at least 10 Kirkish Pounds an hour or 20,800 Kirkish Pounds a year.
  10. The average work week shall be considered to equal 35 working hours a week. Any working time an employee has that is above 35 hours a week shall be considered overtime and wages shall immediately be paid at a rate one and a half times (1.5x) the employee's normal wage for the overtime hours.
  11. Children can only employed at a wage double that of adults.
  12. Children shall not be permitted to work more than 20 hours a week.
  13. All employees shall be guaranteed a minimum of fourteen (14) days of paid vacation a year.
  14. Employers cannot, under any circumstance deny an employee's request for taking vacation.
  15. If an employee's doctor declares the employee unable to work for medical reasons then the employer must provide regular payment of the employee until the employee's doctor declares the employee able to work.
  16. Payment for approved time off (the two above mentioned cases) from work shall be the payment given to the employee in a full week of employment. This shall equal 35 hours of pay for adults or 20 hours of pay for children at their agreed to wage or minimum wage, whichever is higher.
