Noting that Article 2, Section 4 of the Constitution requires new elections

Further Noting that making the elections more common will allow better representation

Be it resolved that the following changes be made to the Constitution:
  • Section 4 of Article 2 of the Constitution be altered to say:
    Quote:
Elections for the Parliament shall take place every three (3) months on February 4th, May 4th, August 4th, and November 4th.

    • Noting that one of these dates just occurred this amendment will not have a retroactive effect and require an immediate election. This amendment shall take effect only once it is signed into the Constitution.

This bill being a proposed amendment to the Constitution it will have a voting period of three days to allow for debate. To pass this bill must obtain at least 3 votes and approval from the Sovereign.

Mr. Speaker,

I do not see the necessity of this proposal. The Sovereign already hold the power to dissolve Parliament and call for early elections. Adding more required elections will only add to unnecessary logistical issues when those election days approach. This proposal will also limit severely the time a Parliament has to enact legislation. The proposed amendment will only lead to poor governance and unnecessary time-wasting. I yield the floor.

Mr. Speaker,

I must say that I do not see how this could be detrimental. A more representative Parliament cannot be a bad thing. I yield the floor.

The bill having received 2 yes votes, 1 no vote, and 1 abstaining vote does not pass. The motion is rejected.
